rowing the boat...

Well I've been very scattered for a while now...enjoying the last days of summer...staying busy with gardening, playing in the sand, wagon-rides...trying to balance work, play, art, home, friendships, family, life...I read a blog post somewhere this week, I wish I could find it again, but another young lady commented how so many of us (myself included) look at others and wonder how they seem to have figured it all out. These fantastic women who seem to perfectly walk the tightrope of life, making a perfect harmony of all the bits and pieces of their lives. I would have assumed the young lady writing this was one of those near perfect women herself. Yet she admits, she too is struggling, as is everyone she knows. We're all on the same journey...it's nice to know that.

New collage on wood...

" My Village Has a Tree Swing" on Etsy.

We're savoring every last minute of summer around here, hence the lack of regular posts and general art updates. I start getting anxious if I don't draw or paint often, so I'm bound to pull an overnight shift someday soon, so I create something :) Here's a link to the giveaway I'm participating in...join the 70+ people that have already entered to win!

Digging...

Dig, set, pour, repeat. A weeklong project is now coming to an end! Hooray!!! We spent many an afternoon cutting down dozens of teeny "trees" that had grown through and completely mangled the old fence. My husband and our neighbor erected this one in it's place. Now the clean-up crew is needed. (I'm the sole member of the clean-up crew.) That's lots of raking folks. Grass seed needs to be laid. Lumber stacked away...

I've also spent the better part of my free time this week looking to locate flooring. We put Pergo in our living room and hallway over the winter (it's indestructible by-the-way) and now we want to put it in all the bedrooms...too bad I picked a variety that has since been discontinued...(kicking myself) So now I'm on the hunt for a close match...uggh.....

So, not much new art to report, because I've been distracted with my domestic duties as of late. Don't forget, there are 2 days left in my etsy shop sale! Buy one print, get one free through Friday!

Fancy gals...

Now in my shop!
These two gals are completed finally. After working with so many vibrant mod patterns, it was nice to do something a bit more delicate and sweet. The curvy scalloped edges are especially girly and kind of antique-ish...me likes :)

Let's hear it for the D...

It seems I've been on another blogging hiatus! We switched internet service providers, and there have been more than a few hiccups...and a technician will be here again today...

I found a website devoted to Detroit DIYourselfer's... visit Handmade Detroit ...this group also puts on the Detroit Urban Craft Fair . Bookmark the site if you're local and want to keep up with what's happening in the Detroit crafting community. Today's Etsy faves are all fellow Michiganders! Woo Hoo! :)

California style fish tacos.....yummy.

Photos by Yunhee Kim for Domino July 2008

I found this great recipe for fish tacos while reading this months Domino magazine. I made the entire spread for dinner last night, watermelon margaritas included. It was delish! You don't have to subscribe to the magazine to get the recipe...you can find it all right here. We used the recommended mahi mahi, but skipped the homemade tortillas for more convenient store bought ones. The corn salad is awesome and the margaritas are soooo refreshing!
Happy Friday and have a great weekend! :)
